A Team Of Professionals
Together, and as we expand our firm with offices both in the U.S. and abroad, we have assisted foreign national clients from over 25 different countries.
Specifically, the partners at SW Law Group bring over 50 years of combined experience to our firm:
NEW YORK OFFICE
Located in the heart of Manhattan, SWLG’s New York Office is the largest of the four global offices, operated by a team of highly skilled professionals who take great pride in their world-class legal work and the individual attention they provide to each client.
The operations of the New York Office are overseen by our Senior Partner, Heidi Son, as well as by our Senior Partner, David Sindell, who divides his time between our Tokyo, New York, Thai, and California groups. Heidi’s expertise has guided the team to assist clients with matters beyond the initial visa application process, including challenging E and L-1A cases for start-ups and entrepreneurs, highly technical L-1B cases for various industries, as well as immigration-related, corporate compliance services from an HR perspective in particular.
The New York Office often holds seminars on various immigration topics. While many of the seminars are open to the public and cover basic information, such as visa types and overviews of U.S. immigration law, others are limited to business entrepreneurs and HR professionals and cover specific topics, such as HR Compliance and Entrepreneurship for Foreign Nationals.
In addition to these seminars, the New York Office also offers free, legal consultations with our attorneys to provide individuals with an initial assessment of their immigration questions or concerns. Our attorneys are committed to community service and often participate in informational seminars, roundtables and panels for international students attending universities in New York City on a pro bono basis. The New York Office is dedicated to serving the international community of New York City and beyond.
Our priority has been and continues to be world-class service with individualized, personal care.
SILICON VALLEY OFFICE
Led by our Senior Partner, Barbara Wong (the “W” in SWLG), the California team specializes in the immigration needs of the rapidly evolving tech industry. In particular, we handle complex H-1B cases, PERM applications, and extraordinary ability petitions. We counsel H-1B dependent employers as well as other employers on I-9 compliance.
We also provide advice on issues related to inadmissibility, criminal bars, waivers, removability, and family-based immigration.
The Silicon Valley Office regularly hosts online and in-person seminars on various immigration topics. While many of the seminars are open to the public and cover basic information, such as overviews on visa types and various aspects of U.S. immigration law, others are limited to business entrepreneurs and HR professionals and cover specific topics like HR Compliance and Entrepreneurship for Foreign Nationals.
Our attorneys are committed to ongoing communication with government agencies on U.S. immigration processes and procedures, and we regularly participate in government agency liaison panels and meetings. The California team is dedicated to serving the international community of the Silicon Valley / San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
Our priority has been and continues to be world-class service with individualized, personal care.
TOKYO OFFICE
SWLG’s Tokyo Office was established in 2013 after our Senior Partner, David Sindell, was admitted as an Attorney at Foreign Law in Japan. He is one of a few licensed attorneys of Foreign Law in Japan, specializing in U.S. immigration, and SWLG is the only firm providing such services in Tokyo with bicoastal offices in the U.S.
The Tokyo Office serves as a focal point for our firm so that we may consistently provide top-quality immigration services for Japanese corporations and nationals. Our Tokyo team specializes in providing accessible, personalized assistance and care to many of our multinational corporate and individual clients based in Japan.
Our clients in Japan include major, publicly traded companies in various industries from food distributors, semiconductor manufacturers, mobile game developers, and utility providers to hospitality services, restaurants and manga illustration, as well as start-ups and high-net-worth individual investors.
CHIANG MAI OFFICE
Located in the beautiful nature of Chiang Mai, SWLG’s Chiang Mai Office plays a critical role in assisting our three main offices in Tokyo, New York, and California.
The Thai group was created to give SWLG true global scale. The international presence of our four offices provides SWLG optimal flexibility in terms of case capacity, allowing for quick turnaround so that we are always able to provide world-class service with meticulous attention to detail while still meeting individualized client needs.
The operations of the Thai group are overseen by our Office Manager, Rachel Jones. The Thai team handles, in general, all kinds of non-immigrant visas as well as other kinds of immigration benefits, including the labor certification process.
