Special Immigration Visas (SIVs):

The August 2024 Visa Bulletin alerts U.S. government employees abroad awaiting special immigrant visas that they might be affected by the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of December 22, 2023. Impacted applicants should contact their consular post for more information. Iraqis and Afghans applying for SQ and SI SIVs are not affected.

Future Prospects:

Given the Visa Bulletin’s progression, State Department warnings, and USCIS’s high usage of green card numbers, expect tighter or unavailable cutoff dates for the rest of the fiscal year.
