Interesting Facts:
Before moving to New York City, Mia lived in Salem, MAÂ and Chicago, IL. In Chicago, she briefly worked as a concierge at a boutique hotel and, within the first two months of employment, was awarded Employee of the Month for her excellent service not only to customers but also to her colleagues. Currently, Mia is also a management member of the Aichi Kenjinkai, an association of people from Aichi Prefecture of Japan. She also frequently volunteers as a translator/interpreter at various non-profit events aimed at promoting human rights, peace, and justice.
At SWLG:
Mia is a Senior Paralegal at the New York office. She often serves as the lead case coordinator for the full gamut of immigrant (EB1, EB2, EB3, IR, F2A) and non-immigrant (E, H-1B, H-3, J-1, L-1, O-1/O-2, P-3) visa cases for corporate clients, as well as for individuals, developing case strategies, supervising the work of other team members, and acting as a point of contact for major Japanese clients. She also has experience handling EB4, K-1, I, and R-1 categories. Utilizing her years of extensive experience in the field, she often trains new staff and provides guidance and training in practical skills needed to execute immigration cases accurately and effectively.
Interest in Immigration:
As a U.S. immigrant herself (from F-1 to H-1B, then LPR), Mia can personally relate to and understand the physical, emotional, and economic burdens that many of her clients face and must overcome. Mia feels particularly rewarded when she is able to utilize her experience and knowledge to assist her clients reach their goals and dreams.
