In November 2014, the Executive Order that will protect more than 4 million illegal immigrations from deportation was announced. Should this order be carried out, illegal immigrants, specifically parents of U.S. citizens or permanent residents will be excluded from deportation and be issued work authorization permits.
However, this order was brought into litigation as unconstitutional by a Republican attorney General in Texas. The Obama Administration appealed the injunction to the Supreme court.
The Supreme Course has agreed to response to President Obama’s appeal in April 2016.
If the Executive Order is deemed constitutional and passed, the processing centers of USCIS are sure to be flooded with applications over a short period of time. President Obama’s presidency will end in January 2017 and the next president may revoke the order.
