Persons living on the east coast filing Adjustment of Status applications for permanent residence, Employment Authorization Documents (EAD), Advance Parole Documents, Permanent Residence Card renewals or replacements and re-entry permits (I-131), all need to first obtain biometric appointments (basically getting fingerprinting at an Authorized Service Center (ASC). The Vermont Service Center (VSC) must issue appointment letters to obtain the biometrics at the ASC’s but now.
The Vermont Service Center has informed the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA) that it is currently experiencing issues with the biometric scheduling system, which has resulted in a temporary halt in sending biometrics notices in all cases at VSC . The glitch affects cases that were filed in December 2014 and January 2015. VSC has a team of developers working on the problems and expects to begin sending notifications on or around February 12, 2015 to individuals whose applications were filed in December and January. The VSC apologizes for any inconvenience or confusion that this has caused.
