For L-1 blanket petitions at a foreign U.S. embassy, a visa stamp and I-129S (with Petition Expiry Date endorsed) will be issued to the applicant.  The duration of the visa stamp’s validity will depend on the nationality of the applicant and can vary anywhere from 3 months to 5 years, but the common expiration period for I-129S is 3 years (2 years if extension).  The I-94 term is based on this I-129S expiration period. However, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has reported that some U.S. embassies and consulates have been issuing an I-129S that matches the visa stamp’s expiration- a period of up to 5 years.  AILA requests all the members in the consulate to report in case of such action.
