The United States Senate and House of Representatives passed a spending measure that temporarily ended the partial government shutdown through February 15, 2019.
As mentioned in previous articles, a handful of immigration functions were affected by the partial government shutdown. With this temporary spending measure, functions that lapsed due to the shutdown, including the E-Verify system, are expected to resume shortly after the spending bill becomes law. However, several functions that may have accrued a backlog due to the shutdown may have delays as they try to get back up to speed.
If no agreement is reached by February 15, the federal government may experience another shutdown.
