AILA Liaison announced that the August 2013 Visa Bulletin contained significant changes for the family-based 2A (spouses and children of lawful permanent residents). The F-2A category, which in July had a cut-off date that hovered around September/October 2011, will be “current” for all chargeability areas in August and “is expected to remain so for the next several months.” The Department of State has advanced this category in order to fully utilize the available numbers. DOS states that though demand is high for registered F-2A beneficiaries, there is currently a shortage of applicants who are actively pursuing their cases.
