The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on May 22, 2019 that it would implement a new strategy to make steps toward a digital business model. This strategy, known as eProcessing, will be a complete digital experience. Individuals would be able to apply for a benefit, communicate with USCIS, and even receive a decision on a case through eProcessing.
Certain visitors for business, visitors for pleasure, and vocational students are now able to apply online to extend their stay in the United States. eProcessing connects previously separate technology systems within USCIS to ultimately improve decision timeliness, increase transparency during the application process, and accelerate the availability of online filing for all immigration benefits.
Applicants may confirm their online filing eligibility at uscis.gov/i539online, and then file Form I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status online with their USCIS account.
